A Photoshoot + Interview with Photographer Clair Saint-Camille
It's time to welcome the weekend with this stunning, pastel-hued photoshoot by Clair Saint-Camille. Clair is a photographer based in New England and his photographs have blown us away with their nostalgic and dreamy feel.
When it comes to this particular photoshoot, Clair explains that he decided to do a shoot with one of his friends on the "theme of blue and seafaring." He adds, "I've always lived near the ocean; it's very important to me."
Whim was very excited to ask the talented photographer a series of questions, relating to his work, everyday life, and dreams for the future:
Q: When did you first discover your love of photography?
A: I discovered my love of photography through the cinema of Eric Rohmer, Ingmar Bergman, and Andrei Tarkovsky in college in 2010. But only in the last two years have I been photographing seriously.
Q: What concepts or emotions do you often like to portray through your photography?
A: Solitude, nostalgia, tendresse.
Q: What does an average day in the life of Clair involve?
A: Perusing antiques and thrift stores for old cameras or books, reading, drinking tea. I'm also a counsellor at a private high school.
Q: Please tell us about the experience you had whilst shooting the featured photoshoot?
A: It was very cold outside, almost frosty--we'd been shooting all day, and were hungry. So there was an element of suffering in the shoot. The sky, however, was indescribably colourful.
Q: What do you hope to achieve with your photography in the near future – do you have any exciting, upcoming plans?
A: I hope to someday have the financial and creative freedom to travel and collaborate with contemporary models and photographers I admire.
We highly recommend that you check out Clair's breath-taking photography on his various links, including his website, Flickr, and blog. Happy weekend everyone! :)
