Featured Artist: Sally Conwell
Sydney-based artist Sally Conwell has an eye for the obscure and unexpected. Since first emerging into the creative world in 2011 at 18 years of age, Sally’s painted portraits capture the uniqueness and individuality of her intriguing subjects. Inspiration is taken from the vibrant wonder of children’s storybooks, which sees Sally search out the ‘special people’ to act as subjects for each of her glorious creations.
Through seeking to express the rich history and untold stories of these ordinary people, Sally produces portraits that evoke an eye-catching charm. Most recently, her 2013 greeting card collection ‘Sit Still Sally’ encapsulates this artistic vision, drawing together Sally’s dreamy illustrations with lovely accompanying messages. With plans to expand her brand to include home wares and homemade stationary in the near future, Sally is certainly an artist we urge you to keep your eyes on!
