Scrawling drawings and doodles on any paper we can get our hands on is a common pastime for a student of any age. A simple ballpoint pen and notebook can offer the helplessly bored and unsettled solace and a potential creative outlet. Artist Anja Slibar's incredible illustrations, however, have completely transformed the possibilities of these apparently mundane objects. Specialising in hand-drawn creations, Anja utilises a monochromatic colour palette with accents of crimson to depict everyday occurrences in the most extraordinary ways.
As a Visual Communications graduate from the Academies of Art and Design in both Slovenia and Finland, Anja possesses pure artistic talent that truly speaks for itself. Focusing on the form of the human body, these illustrations are edgy, captivating and understated. Anna's works serve to show her subjects in their most natural state, free from the distractions of overwhelming colours and shading often seen in other illustrations.
In the words of this artist herself, Anja states she gains inspiration from "small unimportant everyday moments of life, girls with long hair and cats too." Clean lines and perfectly executed fine details set this illustrator apart from the pack. These works effortlessly capture the diverse beauty of life through a medium that is both timeless and extremely modern all at the same time. And we cannot get enough of what Anja has to offer!
