Featured Artist: Giulio Iurissevich

Dark, edgy and bold. These are the words that instantly come to mind when attempting to describe the urban-inspired art of illustrator and graphic artist Giulio Iurissevich. Since 1998, Giulio has been offering a sensitive yet unmistakably distinctive portrayal of the human form. Each work of his is layered with a rich tapestry of patterns, paints and brush strokes, giving these stunning creations a raw, semi-industrial vibe that we completely adore.
Motivated to capture the essence and emotions of his subjects, Giulio devotes his creative energy to replicating the highs and lows of the human existence. Choosing to stray from the popular, conventional notions of beauty, his artworks instead act as an expression of thought and feeling.
With a graffiti-like aesthetic featuring striking silhouettes coloured by vivid printed designs, these illustrations are hard to tear your gaze away from. Another distinctive feature of his work is Giulio's use of solely female subjects. Giulio describes this conscious decision and his distinct artistic style, stating "these girls, having accepted their dark side, their contradictions, fears and insecurities seem to have reached a fragile balance that holds all the contradictory fragments of their personality and life in a whole revealing their inner beauty with an aura of mystery."
We strongly encourage you to take a look at Giulio's extensive body of work by heading to his website, and make sure to 'like' his Facebook page for regular updates of his latest artistic endeavours.
