An Interview with Photographer Jenna DeNatale from Project Love Your Body
Talented photographer Jenna DeNatale may have only recently turned 18, but already she has her sights set on changing the world. Jenna is a passionate photographer with a keen interest in helping girls to feel beautiful and comfortable in front of the camera. As a result, she has created 'Project Love Your Body'.
Before we give away too much information about the blossoming and inspirational photographic series, we think it's best that you learn all about it from the creator herself. Whim recently asked the young creative all about her work, passions and dreams for the future, and we just know you're going to find her answers as inspiring as we did!
Q: When did you first discover your love of photography?A: I first discovered my love for photography after I got my senior pictures done. I loved modeling and being in front of the camera and the way it made me feel. This made me want to get a camera of my own to share this experience with other people but also capture moments of adventures with my friends that I could remember forever. I got my camera 7 months ago for Christmas and haven't put it down since.
Q: For those of our readers who may be unfamiliar with Project Love Your Body, how would you explain it to them?A: Over the last three months I've dedicated my time to shooting with young girls of all ages, races, shapes and sizes. My ultimate goal was to make them feel beautiful and confident in front of the camera which is the start of my project, Project Love Your Body. It is not just a photo shoot but also a time where the girls share their experiences, aniexties but also insecurities with themselves. During the photo shoot I let girls know to let go of all those insecurities and just be their beautiful selves in front of the camera.
Q: What inspired you to first begin Project Love Your Body?A: What first inspired me to begin Project Love Your Body was people talking bad about me at school. At first it bugged me but I learned I had to be confident in my self and my own skin if I was ever going be truly happy with myself. As a young girl I was very shy and self conscious with my self. I had acne. I was also a perfectionist in trying to make everyone happy which ultimately lead me into severe depression and aniexty.
Q: When you're not busy photographing these beautiful portraits, what does an average day in the life of Jenna involve?A: I just graduated high school and now an average day in my life would be working at a law office up in Santa Rosa, going on adventures with my friends to the beach or wherever the road takes us and hanging out with my lovely boyfriend.
Q: What do you hope to achieve with your photography in the not-too-distant future?A: For the not too distant future I hope to spread my project out and start something that'll change the world.
