It’s easy to fall into the trap of sticking to what we do best. Photographer Melissa Black knows all to well the paradoxical dangers of one’s comfort zone. Thankfully, this 22 year-old Boston-based photographer also knows the importance of growth, evolution and continual change in the creative process.

For the past eight years, Melissa has been experimenting behind the lens. Her photography is her medium of expression. Highly emotive, Melissa’s work focuses on portraits filled with movement, light and an abundance of colour.

Featured across a range of platforms, including Vogue.it, Melissa seeks to produce both beautiful and moving images. “My work varies from emotional to expressive… I am looking to expand my comfort zone with photos”, she states, “because while I tend to stick more in the realms of creative shoots, I would like to collaborate on ideas with the models I work with.”
