Do you feel yourself suddenly transported to a dream world upon viewing this bridal-inspired photoshoot from the highly talented Vai Yu Law Photography? Featuring a fusion of vintage looks with a more modern, yet gorgeously ethereal bridal style, this series of images has our hearts in a flutter.
Vai is a portrait and fashion photographer from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She explains: "Two months ago I went to a wonderful amazing trip to Europe, for the first time! I was stuck in a rut in Toronto, and I wanted to find inspiration again, and to figure out what I wish my work to represent in photography. I realized from my trip that I love listening to stories of strangers, or new friends I've met. We are all made of stories. We are stories. And I want to be able to tell stories through my photographs. About love, about heartbreaks. About the authenticity of joy and sadness. About human vulnerability.
When I came back from my trip, I wanted to make sure that I shoot what I've always wanted to - and this shoot that I am submitting has been an idea that I wanted to do before I left to Europe. I wanted this shoot to represent the common sadness of two young women - deeply understanding and showing one's vulnerability to each other, and seeking comfort from each other but with sombre and confused hearts...wanting help from each other to let go from the past.
I chose to have dresses, including vintage dresses, in the shoot because I still wanted to have some fairytale like innocence and purity in the heart - and of course to have a whimsical feel!"
