Endless tea parties, parasol-clad strolls and beautiful garments which Marie Antoinette herself would not be able to resist - This is the wonderful world of Canberra-based fashion label Little Jane Lane.
Rachel Jane Eager is the super talented designer behind the label who ensures that all of her designs are environmentally aware, choosing to ensure minimal wastage when producing garments. The inspirational creative donates her material cut offs to Global Sisters, an organisation that helps women experiencing socio-economic disadvantage to become financially independent through sustainable self-employment.
"Rachel Eager has always had a huge heart for all things fashion, and enjoyed her childhood tea parties, styling her dress ups, and reading Alice in Wonderland. So, it is no wonder that the graduating fashion designer’s label, Little Jane Lane, focuses on tea party attire for young women who search for an escape from reality," the label's Facebook page explains.

.
Q: We absolutely love your whimsical designs! What first inspired you to create your label Little Jane Lane?A: My inspiration came from an imaginative, creative childhood. I grew up playing dress-ups, holding tea parties and reading stories like Alice in Wonderland. I have always been passionate about clothes and from a young age dreamt about becoming a fashion designer. When I finished school the inevitable next step was to pursue my dream. I studied at the Canberra Institute of Technology and graduated in 2014 with my Bachelor of Design (Fashion Design). It was at CIT where I began my label ‘Little Jane Lane’.
Q: How would you describe your fashion label in just three words?A: Feminine, whimsical, tea-parties.Q: When it comes to your designs, what inspires your creativity the most?A: I’m always inspired by the pretty, elegant and finer things in life. However, lots of things trigger my creativity, from fashion history to the delicacy of fine china teacups.
Q: We are in awe of the Little Jane Lane 2015 Lookbook and love your feminine, tea-party inspired designs. Please tell us a little more about the experience you had whilst working on this collection?A: The inspiration for my last collection, called ‘Pinkies Up’, was Victorian fashions and the old-world charm of high tea. I wanted to create an aura of femininity and beauty and allow women to take time out to dress up and enjoy some of the elegant pleasures in life. Designing, pattern-making and producing the collection in time for graduation felt surreal and it was such a fun experience bringing some of my dreams to life.
Q: What do you hope to achieve with your label in the not-too-distant future; Do you have any upcoming, exciting plans that you would like to share with us?A: I will be launching a new Little Jane Lane collection, called ‘Dolls House’ at FASHFEST on Wednesday 13 May. Fashfest is Canberra’s biggest red-carpet fashion event. More than 30 designers will be on the runway and more than 90 models will bring collections alive. It’s the first time I’ve launched a collection at such a major fashion event and I’m trembling with excitement. My appearance at FASHFEST will coincide with the launch of the Little Jane Lane website where people can browse and purchase my designs online. The Little Jane Lane Facebook page will provide updates and launch details.
