A Peek Inside the Whim Office: A Collaboration with WeWork.com
I was inspired by WeWork, a co-working company based in NYC, to create a blog post featuring our office space. Not only had I been planning on sharing some more behind-the-scenes images with you all, but I also have an obsession with workspaces, so have been making over this area of late! WeWork’s mission is to create a world where people “work to make a life, not just a living” and they do this through offering co-working spaces for startups, freelancers, entrepreneurs, and small businesses who value inspiration and collaboration.
There are a number of things I love most about where I get to do my work, including the abundance of pretty and pastel decor, as well as the fact that I'm constantly surrounded by things that inspire me - whether it be some recent birthday gifts from my close friends, motivational quotes, incredible books (such as #GIRLBOSS) and beautiful photographs that remind me of why I began Whim Online Magazine in the first place!
I'm also always surrounded by pretty blooms and love filling my workspace with cute and quirky accessories, especially those featuring my favourite animals - cats, deer, rabbits and owls.
Being a blogger and a freelance writer (when I'm not working on Whim), I'm often working alone, therefore I find that it's super important to have an office where I feel constantly inspired and motivated. It's vital to have a space that's bursting with colour too and I've found that by incorporating Whim's aesthetic into the workspace's decor, I seem to always be overflowing with ideas!
As much as I love my little workspace, WeWork.com also got me thinking - If I could, what would I add to create the ultimate dream office environment?
I've had this idea of making a smallish, pom pom rug for quite some time now (it all started with a freelance writing position at CoolCrafts.com and this article) so I've put that project on the To Do list! I would make it using pom poms in the colours that you find on Whim the most: soft shades of pink teamed with white.
With the launch of Whim's own online vintage boutique coming in September, I would also love to dedicate some space to this. It would feature a moodboard of everything that inspires the boutique's aesthetic, as well as a rack of stock so I can see all of the beautiful dresses from a glance.
I've also been on the lookout for the perfect succulent plant and somewhere lovely to house it in. Recently, I made a DIY gold dino planter for my boyfriend's birthday and loved the result so much that I've decided I must make one for my own office! The flowers I often surround myself with are fake (beats having to change them all of the time!), but I admit it would be nice to have a living, breathing plant on my desk :)
It's great to always add or change things in your workspace to keep it feeling fresh and new. What would you include in your dream office? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
I encourage you to check out WeWork's locations, or you can also find the company on Facebook and Instagram (@wework). Enjoy!
