Review: Essential Oils by Earth Philosophy
I’ve been a dabbler with essential oils since I was a young kid, especially after I began to suffer from regular migraines and my mum would apply lavender oil to my forehead. Since then, I’ve also began to use rosemary oil to relieve tension headaches and migraines, along with tea tree oil as a natural antiseptic.
Recently, Earth Philosophy reached out to introduce their 100% natural and environmentally sustainable skincare and wellness oils to me, and I was really impressed with their range. They stock everything from single oils and oil blends to skin cleansers, toners, and hydrators.
I was also invited to try some of their products to review here on Whim and I was most drawn to the Sinus Relief essential oil blend, along with the Rose Hip Seed Oil.
For me, sinus has become a bit of a problem of late (and seems to be heavily linked to those migraines I mentioned earlier), so I was really interested in trying out the essential oil blend made specifically to combat this problem. The mixture contains ingredients such as organic sunflower oil, cayenne pepper herbal oil, organic peppermint essential oil, and cinnamon essential oil (just to name a few!).
The oil can be applied underneath the nostrils, behind the ears, or even over your sinus cavities to quickly and effectively relieve sinus congestion which is often brought on by colds and allergies. What I also liked about this blend was the fact that it uses capsaicin, a natural molecule found in cayenne peppers which has been proven to be successful at easing sinus pressure, headaches, and congestion.
I’ve had to use the Sinus Relief oil a few times over the past week, but I’m pleased to say that I definitely noticed a fairly swift improvement in my sinusitis symptoms after applying the essential oil blend. I now keep the bottle in a handy spot on my bedside table so it’s easily accessible for those particularly sinus-filled mornings. It smells heavenly too!
Another product I tried from Earth Philosophy’s range was the Rose Hip Seed Oil. I was drawn to this blend because it’s meant to be great at reducing the appearance of dark spots and scars, particularly acne scars. You can also use it as a daily moisturizer, as it contains protein and high Vitamin C levels which stimulate collagen and reduce the signs of aging skin. You simply apply the oil to clean, dry skin and allow it to absorb.
I’ve so far only been using this essential oil on my scars for 7 days now, so while I’m yet to see any drastic improvements, I know that these will come with regular usage over a longer period of time. Scars can be stubborn, after all!
Overall, I’m really impressed with Earth Philosophy’s diverse range of helpful, natural products and feel really grateful that I was able to test out two of these amazing oil blends.
I encourage you to find out more about Earth Philosophy by visiting their website and following along on Facebook and Instagram. Enjoy!
