Overcoming the Excuses (Once + For All!)

We all do it. We’re all guilty. You’re lying if you say you’ve never done it.

Making excuses to get out of jobs is second-nature to most of us; even if we are making the excuse to ourselves. Rather than tackling the job head-on, sometimes we think it would be better to have a bit of a relax beforehand, or that it is a job that you can put off until another day, or even that it’s not worth doing just yet. Excuses pour out as to why it can’t be done; the truth is that you’re just too lazy to do it at that time. That’s fine. Use laziness as your excuse though rather than covering it up with anything else.

It isn’t the weather for it…

We love to blame circumstances that are out of our control. Maybe it’s too hot outside to mow the lawn, too cold to clean out your car, or the rain is getting you down so much that you don’t want to hoover. There are people who have to do these jobs whatever the weather; either because of personal drive or they have no other time to do it. Put the adverse conditions out of your mind and learn to be a person who can tackle jobs regardless of what surrounds them. It may be uncomfortable, but at least they’ll be done.

I just don’t have the time…

You have the same amount of time in the day as everybody else. It may not be a case of not having the time, but more that you don’t know how to manage it properly. If you have a disposable income, or spare cash left over, then look on sites like Domestic One to search for help around your home. It will certainly ease some pressure at the very least. However, if you don’t have the money to spare, you’ll just have to suck it up - wake up earlier or go to bed later to get the jobs done.

I haven’t got the right stuff…

We are in an age where everything is available at the click of a button, and often at a very competitive price compared to stores. If you don’t have the equipment available to complete a job, we now are blessed with social media and phones so we can get in touch with those who do, or at least might know somebody who does.

If you have exhausted all options then you may need to consider hiring a professional and/or saving up to get the job done - sometimes it’s worth it just so you can put it aside for further use so you won’t have to go through this rigmarole again.
