Photoshoot + Interview: 'The Bright Side' by Natália Jakubcová

Natália Jakubcová is a Bratislava-based photographer specializing in fashion photography and weddings, and we love what she’s done with her latest shoot.

(Plus, we all now want to bob our hair like her adorable model!).

This short but sweet shoot showcases what you can do if you’re not afraid to play with a range of textures – and the results are gorgeous!

Stylist Iveta Horvathová pairs a divine silk pleated midi skirt with a pair of chunky silver lace-ups and a cream high-necked cropped sweater for a look that’s both feminine and playful. A metallic tee and exotic headpiece lend a touch of drama, while we’re in love the shaggy, sequined jumper that steals the show entirely in this shoot!

Natália’s use of natural light and scenery here is breathtaking – we can’t wait to see more of her work. We're also excited to announce that we have an exclusive interview with the talented photographer below, so be sure to keep scrolling for that!

Q: How did you become a photographer?

A: When I was 9 years old I asked my mum for my first camera. It was a really small analogue camera which was fully automatic. I made a few pictures with it, but it broke really soon. This misfortune didn’t stop my desire to take pictures. So when I was around 12, I got an old used Vivitar camera. From this day on I started shooting more and more photos. As years passed I slowly bought better equipment, shot my first works for money and during my university studies I began earning money just from taking pictures.

Q: Your locations range from stunning natural settings to modern architecture - how do you choose the location for a shoot?

A: The main thing is to have your eyes opened all the time and watch around. I personally need to see something interesting or unique at a given location. Then I try to find out which style of shooting will be the best for that specific location. If there's a model, I explain her my idea and what would be the expected result, so she can prepare herself accordingly.

Q: What was the inspiration for this beautiful shoot?

A: We wanted to make something sparkly and full of light. The idea of this shooting was to make some playful and optimistic pictures in connection with nature. To display the easy and bright side of life.

Q: You shoot weddings as well as fashion photography - which do you prefer and why?

A: Through the fashion photography I can present my own perception of seeing the world, my imagination or even my dreams. This is not possible with wedding photography, but I have to admit, I really like to take pictures on full of love weddings. But fashion photography has a special place in my heart.
