When Is It The Right Time For New Clothes?

Everyone wants to find an excuse for new clothes - however, we shouldn't go looking for one.

Shopping is great, but it's an expensive habit and stocking up on clothes that we might not wear can lead to a wardrobe that is bursting at the seams and a lot of stress. It's easy to avoid this - simply buy new clothes when you need new clothes. You'll save a lot of time and money, and you will certainly avoid becoming a hoarder!

However, it's not easy to know when the right time to buy new clothes is. That's why we've compiled this handy little guide for you. Don't buy stuff on a whim, only expand your wardrobe when you need to and you'll avoid stress and wasting cash - and you will be more likely to find the clothes that you'll love to wear, than chucking another bit of gear into the back of your wardrobe.

So when do you need to buy new clothes? Firstly, if something is ruined - do everything you can to fix it. Most stains can be removed from clothes with clever tricks and tips, for example. If something is truly ruined (torn to bits, stained beyond repair), then do feel free to replace it. Smelly clothes might also be ruined. If a smell isn't going away after washing and treating, it might be a sign that the outfit is done. Feel free to chuck it away and replace. As for tears, some rips do look stylish (think denim) but if you've got holes in your silks or skirts - get rid.

When the time actually comes to buy new clothes. Don't splurge. Shop around and find good deals on sites like Billini and other online boutiques. Pointlessly spending isn't the aim of the game here. Shop around for good deals and value.

Ruined clothes are obvious candidates for the bin, but what else should you replace? Well - clothes you don't like. If there is something stagnating in your wardrobe because you do not like it, donate it. It's pointless holding onto and it is only taking up space. Some clothes might not fit you anymore either - and that's ok. They can go as well! There will be plenty other outfits out there that do fit you, so don't hold onto things you do not need, especially if you can't even wear them. This goes for style. Some clothes look great now, but will look terrible in a few years. Buy with longevity in mind in future, but for now - feel free to get rid and replace items that just are not doing it for you anymore. You want to look good in your clothes, but if they do not look good on you anymore, feel free to get rid of them.

Wasting money should be a sin and if you realized its impact, you'd stop. Here's one thing you can do; only buy new clothes when you need new clothes. Only replace things when you actually get rid of them!
