The Art of a Tidy, Relaxing Bedroom
When you walk into a room after a long day at work, you want to just get on with sorting yourself for bedtime. But when you go into an untidy and unkempt bedroom, you feel less than happy with getting to bed.
The bedroom is the place where you start and end your day. It’s where you’ve splurged your cash on a brand new mattress with www.mattress-guides.net/the-most-popular-mattresses-of-fall-2018 and you bought all that super cute new bedding. It’s where you feel relaxed and where you spend a massive chunk of your day.
A cluttered and disoriented space is going to make your mind cluttered and disoriented. It becomes a new source of stress that you didn’t anticipate having. A tidy bedroom can make your soul sing and make you feel set up and ready for the day, and here’s how:
Make Your Bed
Yes, there is an argument out there that says ‘what is the point?’ because you’re going to get back into the bed again in a few hours. The thing is, getting into a freshly made bed can make you feel completely different than getting into rumpled sheets. So, there is absolutely a point to making the bed in the morning, complete with comforters and throw pillows.
Use Proper Storage
The wardrobe chair is not a place for your clothes. The only clothes that should ever be out in the bedroom are pyjamas on the bed or clean clothes on a hanger ready to be worn the next day. You need so much more storage in your bedroom to be able to have a place you feel comfortable that’s tidy. Buy proper wardrobes with space to hang clothes, fold clothes and for shoeboxes to be stored at the bottom.
Maximise Your Space
The space under the bed? That’s the perfect place to store linens in a flat box. The window box? A place to store paperwork and books that you want out of sight. Look around the room and look at all the underutilized spaces and maximise them instead.
Avoid Mess Starting
Once you have the room organised and ready to go, you need to keep it that way. Hang things up or get them in the laundry hampers as you go, so that you’re not starting with a mess in the first place. You don’t need the piles on the floor, so don’t allow them to start.
Your bedroom needs to stay the tidy haven you want it to be. It’s the best way to relax at the end of a long day.
