Raissa Biscotti's images are true gems of the photography world. Upon receiving the images featured above we couldn't have been more amazed; Suddenly staring back at us were stunning photographs of girls adorned in butterflies, gemstones, flowers and sunshine.
Based in Italy, Raissa's work can be found in numerous publications (including one of our favourites, CocoIndie Mag), and despite labelling herself as an 'emerging photographer', one cannot help but notice the incredible quality and popularity of her gorgeous work.
We were recently lucky enough to be able to ask Raissa all about her creativity, passions and dreams for the future of her photography career, and you can find the talented photographer's inspiring answers below:
Q: When did you first discover your love of photography?
A: It's been with my first digital camera, at the age of 18, that I discovered photography. I used to dress up and take self portraits. Later I focused on people and those became my favourite subjects.
Q: What inspires your creativity the most?
A: I have a vivid imagination. I grew up reading classic fairytales and watching fantasy movies. When I was a teenager I loved poetry, novels and the gothic movement. I feel comfortable any time I'm in contact with something mysterious and edgy so I often take a look to old film photography. The romantic imagery it's absolutely my favourite but I can't say all creativity comes exclusively from the outside. Most of the times it's the way I feel inside that really leads me to create. As a self-taught photographer experimenting is also one of my guidelines.
Q: What does an average day in the life of Raissa involve?
A: I'm a part time student and a part time photographer with an obsession for photography. Whenever I'm doing something else, I never focus completely on reality. This sort of constant day dreaming often catches on me with tons of interesting of ideas.
Q: What concepts and emotions do you often like to portray in your work?
A: I'm looking for genuine photos. It's something really hard to find in a digital era. I am a digital photographer but I'm challenging myself to the point of almost giving up on the post production. People must look the way they are and not clearly manipulated. This obviously requires a certain amount of risk and testing. My taste definitely goes beyond the mere production of commercial, catchy photos. I believe true art is always a balanced in-between pure aesthetic and concept.
Q: What do you hope the not-too-distant future holds for your photography - Do you have any exciting, upcoming plans that you would like to share with us?
A: I look forward to becoming a full time photographer and travelling. I don't like when things distract me too much from photo shooting. I always ended up quitting any other activity. Photography is my first true love and I have the feeling it's gonna be for the rest of my life. I'm currently working on a set of photos to be published on an independent book and shooting with my film Nikon 70s camera.
