A Plus Market is Melbourne’s only regular plus-size fashion market and the good news is that the event is turning 1 year old on the 30th of August! To celebrate this wonderful milestone, A Plus Market will be holding a bumper round of markets throughout Melbourne, and from what we've heard, they'll certainly be worth a visit if you're in the city.
So what exactly is A Plus Market? The event is described as a showcase of local designers, makers and sellers who celebrate plus-size women along with local community style icons offering their pre-loved clothing and accessories. The event's information states: "This fresh take on a fashion fair hits all the right chords with its inclusivity, sustainable and community ethos, and its body-positive attitude."
Local mum Erin Cox is the organiser behind the successful event, and she was first inspired to create A Plus Market by her own frustrations at trying to find affordable and fashionable plus-size clothing.
"Around half of all Australian women identify as ‘plus-size’, so there is a real demand for events such as A Plus Market and the feedback I‘ve a received is an overwhelming testament to that," explains Erin.
"Women of all ages, shapes and sizes find A Plus Market to be a warm, welcoming and fun place to shop. And to share styling tips and fashion finds. I see women that don’t fit into the plus-size genre enjoying themselves as well, because at each A Plus Market there’s also a fabulous variety of accessories and artisan jewellery showcased," she states.
The event's Birthday market will be held in Preston on Saturday August 30, and it will include a number of goodies, such as musical acts by Naomi Jones and Fire & Theft, as well as a great selection of plus size fashion including the world renowned designer Hope & Harvest, plus so much more!
