Featured Photoshoot: 'Jennie' by Brittany Sowacke
Source: Brittany Sowacke
Sometimes it’s easy to feel small. Photographer Brittany Sowacke knows just what it’s like to contemplate our place in the vast vacuum of space known as earth. Since graduating with a degree in photojournalism from Western Kentucky University in 2012, Brittany has translated these philosophical musings into pieces of creative brilliance. Finding herself currently based out of Dallas, this imaginative individual has been snapping her way through her life and travels, producing some incredible images we couldn’t resist featuring here on the Whim blog!
Her photoshoot ‘Jennie’ see’s model Jennie Fowler shine against the lush surrounds of her backyard. Captivating and candid, each shot skilfully plays of the natural surrounds of the landscape of her hometown of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Brittany’s talents lie in her ability to transform the ordinary and mundane into the extraordinary. Seeing the moments and potential shots most would miss, Brittany’s photography presents the vivid colours and textures of this location in the most unique, memorable ways.
Urban spaces and the magic these places hold are two things inspiring the work of this amazing photographer. Brittany’s creativity isn’t limited to just her camera lens, finding inspiration from "reading conspiracy theories, biking to places I’ve never been before, and considering the great vast emptiness of time and space."
