Despite her young age of just 19, Catie Michel lets an old-style nostalgia inspire her dreamy photographs. The beautiful aesthetic of her photoshoot, ‘Ashes and Rogue’ was perfectly captured on a camera seventy years old. The camera allows a faded nostalgia to Catie’s photographs, which sends our minds on a relaxing journey to decades past. As we travel, we become lost in the airy light, forgetting our troubles as the pastels wash over us.

Catie’s analogue photographs will transport you to this forgotten time. Dispelling the myth that all young people are caught up in a technical chaos, Catie loves capturing a natural rawness on analogue film. A positive, happy spirit is transported to us on the light that filters though her lens.

As the camera dances around the light, Catie is able to pick up the perfection of her farmland surroundings. In her photoshoot, ’Ashes and Rogue,’ Catie’s affinity with nature shines through. Sierra, Catie’s model is photographed as she curiously picks up found objects - a feather, a small yellow bird. She conveys Catie’s “deep appreciation for the earth and the beauty of its nature,” as she sits in repose in a grassy meadow.
