Featured Photoshoot + Interview: 'Mother Earth Series' by Mazzer Photographics
When the talented Mikaela Mazzer of Mazzer Photographics shared her 'Mother Earth Series' with us, we were left feeling in awe. The idea behind her series is one of pure genius, and we couldn't help but want to ask the 19-year-old photographer some questions about her project so that you could also share our wonder!
........................
Q: When did your passion for photography first blossom?A: My passion for photography first began to blossom when I was 15. I used to spend hours on end outside in the grassy fields and creeks photographing everything and anything I could find with my Mother’s camera. I become obsessed with photography instantly, and a camera has been glued to my hip bone ever since.
Q: How would you describe your work in just three words?A: Creative, crisp and captivating.
Q: We love your photographic series titled 'Mother Earth' and find each image to be so ethereal and unique. Can you please tell our readers a little more about your project?A: The project outlines a sequence of eight fine art photographs called ‘Mother Earth’. Each image features female figure goddesses including Aphrodite, Demeter, Persephone, Hemera, Athena, Bast, Gaia and Nyx. The images visually illustrate these goddesses who represent, or are personifications of nature, motherhood, fertility, creation, destruction or who embodies the bounty of the Earth.
Q: Is there one particular goddess or image from this series that is your favourite? If so, why?A: Yes. My favourite image from the series is Persephone, goddess of spring. I just love the crisp and gentle colours of the ferns that wrap around her pastel skin.Q: What do you hope to achieve with your photography in the not-too-distant future; Do you have any exciting, upcoming plans that you would like to share with us?A: I plan on completing a new photography series called ‘Kaleidoscope’ shortly. This will be a series of high shutter portrait images that capture pop-art colours splashing against a models face. I've never done anything like this before, so it will be a fun and messy shoot to say the least (ha). I also plan to begin a 52 week project, focusing on fine-art self-portraiture. I am also planning a heap of creative shoots in the Northern Rivers region / Sydney in late November / early December.
