We love being introduced to international fashion labels, especially when they're as dreamy and feminine as By Misha. Today we bring you a stunning and exclusive photoshoot featuring garments from the label, captured by Diana Santisteban Photography. We even have an extra treat - an interview with the By Misha Designer herself, the incredibly talented and lovely Misha Vaidya, which you can read below!
But first, we quickly want to talk about the incredible garments featured above: the way in which the coral dress holds your gaze with its extraordinary colour, the pretty-as-a-picture floral appliqués and the doll-like cropped blouse with a shimmering, metallic collar. What more can we say? We're in love!
Interview with Designer Misha Vaidya:
Q: When did your love of fashion design first bloom?A: My love affair with fashion, drawing and anything creative started when I was a very little girl. In fact, as a toddler all I needed was paper, a pack of crayons and my mum’s wardrobe to keep me content. By the age of about 10 I knew that I would like nothing more than to become a fashion designer.
Q: How would you describe your brand in just three words?A: Enchanting. Romantic. Empowering.
Q: When it comes to your fashion designs, what inspires your creativity the most?A: My inspiration comes from moments where the greatest secrets are discovered in the most unlikely places and from times of extraordinary adventure, romance and courtly manner. I try to incorporate all these themes and concepts into my collections, photo shoots and videos, even if very subtly. I think the beauty of fashion is the differences across time and the congruence with environment and society!
Q: What does an average day in the life of Misha involve?A: That’s a surprisingly difficult question! From designing and drawing new pieces, writing and creating graphics, to event planning and outreach – each day seems to take me on a new adventure! I really do believe it’s the little things in life that make a difference, so I make sure to fit in some of my favourite things each day. It’s that slice of cake and cup of tea with friends that keeps me sane during crazy times like Fashion Week!
Q: Please tell us a little about the experience you had whilst working on this series of images, ‘BLOOM’?A: Bloom (n.) A state or time of beauty, freshness, and vigor; an opening to higher perfection, analogous to that of buds into blossoms.I have always thought ‘bloom’ was one of the most beautiful words in the English language. When creating this series, I wanted to portray beauty, strength and the congruence between old and new. Hence the vintage feel of the scene. Working with such a talented team, the shoot was an absolute pleasure and one that bloomed into something I hope you all enjoy!
Q: Lastly, what do you hope to achieve with your gorgeous fashion label in the not-too-distant future; Do you have any exciting upcoming plans that you would like to share with us?A: First of all, thank you!! My goal is to expand, further bringing the fairytale to life. Expansion would be seeing the By Misha brand reach more people, in a variety of markets. It gives me a real sense of achievement to share my dream with others. We have some exciting ideas in the pipeline, including a few creative collaborations. You can look forward to some summery separates, fresh cuts and more pieces for that city girl whose good taste never wavers!
