Dharma Eyewear Co: Beautiful Glasses, Beautiful Values

Buying a new pair of glasses may seem like a mediocre duty, however Dharma Eyewear Co. is using this simple task to benefit the lives of 600+ million people around the globe.

How, you ask? Through a heartfelt mission, Founder, Designer and CEO Dhruv Jagasia not only wanted to provide access to beautiful eyewear that doesn’t break the bank but he also wanted to partner with Optometry Giving Sight, donating 5% of all sales to the charity.

Optometry Giving Sight is the only global fundraising initiative that specifically targets the “prevention of blindness and impaired vision due to uncorrected refractive error.” Put simply, the charity helps to provide glasses and eye exams to those who can’t afford them.

Dhruv Jagasia explains: “When I was about 15 years old, I told myself that if I ever joined my father's business I would use his position in the eyewear business to help those who can't help themselves. Since then, I graduated from Rutgers University and decided to start Dharma Eyewear with one word in mind: ‘access’…This company exists to serve you. If we can provide you with amazing eyewear that gives you satisfaction day to day, I can sleep at night. Know that when you buy eyewear from us, together we are helping someone across the planet see, transform their lives and enable them to be successful. Every time you pick up a pair of Dharma glasses, you will know the meaning behind it. Power lies in each lens, in each hinge, and in each temple - the power of good will.

I was recently lucky enough to be invited to choose a pair of glasses courtesy of Dharma Eyewear Co. from their website and was introduced not only to their wonderful values, but also to their fun and interactive software called Virtual Try-On. This software is so unique as it allows absolutely anyone with access to a webcam to virtually try on each style live in 3D. It’s like looking into a magic mirror as your selected style appears perfectly on the bridge of your nose. You can also tilt your head or turn side-on to view how the glasses would look from different angles. Even after I had chosen my desired pair of glasses, I couldn’t help but keep re-trying on pairs because this technology was so much fun!

Here's some exciting news: Dharma Eyewear Co. are also releasing a Virtual Try-On app for the iPhone in March, so stay tuned!

The great news is that Dharma Eyewear Co. has a large selection of both eyeglasses and sunglasses with the option of either prescription or non-prescription, polarised lenses. So if (like me) you don’t wear glasses to help you see – never fear! You too can still shop through Dharma Eyewear Co. to not only receive the best quality of glasses for less than $100, but also to help transform the life of someone who cannot afford proper vision care.

I ended up choosing a pair of sunglasses called ‘Karma’ in the ‘Indian Summer’ style (pictured throughout post) because I loved the way they looked when I tried them on using the Virtual Try-On technology. This design was inspired by “the forces that keeps us within the good graces of the universe” and I loved how each pair of glasses had an inspiring story behind it.

My much-awaited parcel containing the glasses arrived just days ago and needless to say, I was not disappointed! Placed in a unique pyramid-style case, the pair were just as beautiful in ‘real life’ and suited my face shape as much as I’d hoped for.

Now that I am a truly happy and satisfied customer of this heart-warming brand, I wanted to share my experience with you in the hope that next time you’re considering buying eyeglasses or sunglasses you won’t look past Dharma Eyewear Co. – They really are a breath of fresh air, showing us that we can all ‘give a little back’ through the simple task of buying glasses. You can visit their website here, or please be sure to follow them on social media via Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
