Marcela Prado is an incredibly talented fashion designer from Brazil who has kindly shared her latest collection with us to showcase on the blog today. She explains: "[These images] are from my last project at college. I made a lingerie collection for small frame women and their aesthetics were based on one of Shakespeare's characters: Titania from A Midsummer Night's Dream."

Heavily inspired by the quote, "And though she be but little, she is fierce," Marcela's lingerie collection contains enough frills, pastels and lace to make us very happy!

We were also lucky enough to ask the inspirational designer some questions about her collection and career, which you can view below. Enjoy!

.

Q: When did your love of fashion design first bloom?

A: I think it began when I was a kid. My mum is a really good seamstress so I was always surrounded by fashion magazines and fabric scraps. That kinda led my way on choosing fashion design as a profession.

Q: How would you describe yourself in just three words?

A: This is a hard one. I think I'm an observer, a perfectionist and a little bit of a stubborn one.

Q: When it comes to your fashion designs, what inspires your creativity the most?

A: I get inspired by a lot of things. Sometimes by the most random ones like a wall, a little bug or something. And sometimes by more complex things like a song, a feeling or a story.

Q: What does an average day in the life of Marcela involve?

A: Well, I'm really slow at mornings so I have to start my days really early to be on time. 5:30 a.m to be more precisely. I get up. Go to work. (I'm currently working as fashion design assistant at a denim company here in Brazil) So when I get back home, late afternoon, I try to catch up with my household tasks (as I live by myself) and to do stuff like reading, watching TV, drawing... Things like that.

Q: Please tell us a little about the experience you had whilst working on this new collection, 'Titania's Boudoir'?

A: Le Petit Boudoir: Titania's Boudoir was my last project at fashion college before I graduated. So for my last project I really wanted to do something I was related to. I had always been a petite girl and  had problems on buying clothes as it wouldn't fit properly most of the times. But, on "regular" clothes I could do some fixes but on lingerie it was kinda impossible. So I decided to dedicate my creations to women who would go to the same issues as me. I made a research using an online survey that helped me to list things that I had to do on my creations in order to fit them properly on these particular bodies. So I created patterns and details that would fit and disguise some things that bothered these women. I also used natural fibre fabric like modal, silk, and cotton in order for the lingerie be more comfortable and healthier.

Aesthetically, I used Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" as inspiration and tried to create the pieces as it was for Titania, the fairy queen, to wear it. I think Titania represents a lot of the major personality of women so I tried to translate that on 4 main styles: a romantic, an edgy, a fun and a sober / sexy one that would go with the personality of a leader woman. At the same time I let the whimsicality of A Midsummer Night's Dream take its place. It was really fun to do this project.

Q: Lastly, what do you hope to achieve with your fashion designs in the not-too-distant future; Do you have any exciting upcoming plans that you would like to share with us?

A: Well, as a recently graduated Bachelor of Fashion Design I really hope to continue my studies and maybe take an MBA course until I'm ready to have my own brand.
