Featured Label + Lookbook: Delightful Darling

"Life itself is the most wonderful fairytale." It is these words which lie at the very core of brilliant new Melbourne based fashion label, Delightful Darling.

Embodying a sense of whimsy and affection for fairytales, this feminine label contains beautifully designed garments made with love by inspirational Owner and Creative Director Hayleah Ralph.

Eager to make her mark in the fashion world, this young talent launched Delightful Darling in February 2015 just three months after she graduated from her Bachelor of Design Arts majoring in Fashion Design – Now that’s dedication! Hayleah’s label couldn’t have come sooner though; after all, when you’ve got something as special as Delightful Darling to share with the world, who’d want to wait?

"I have always dreamt of having my own clothing label and I am excited start creating the Delightful Darling Fairytale," Hayleah reveals, with her enthusiasm certainly spreading to all of us here at Whim, particularly after laying eyes on the incredible photo shoot above. With plenty of pink to make our hearts sing, a woodland setting and cute elements such as bows, ruffles and satin, what’s not to love?

The label’s freshly-launched website also peaks our intrigue and fascination with this new home grown label, as it hints at the high level of dreaminess and beauty that we can come to expect from Delightful Darling.

“Specialising in feminine aesthetic and child-like details. The label is all about expressing yourself and having a play with your own look,” the website explains.

The influence of child-like details are evident in the unveiling of Delightful Darling’s debut collection featured above, as Hayleah was particularly inspired by Enid Blyton’s ‘The Folk of the Faraway Tree’. One can also sense the fun and fairytale aspect of the label’s new collection, as garments have dreamy names such as the Tea Party Coat, Pixie Trouser and Enchanted Wood Blouse – We’d certainly want to enter this ethereal, storybook world!

For the past 12 months, Hayleah has devoted her time to lovingly creating each individual garment to create a collection which is both playful and girly, while still being sophisticated enough to wear on your more formal occasions.

The Silky Frill Jacket or Land of Dreams Straight Skirt would look wonderful worn to a wedding, while garments such as the Bessie Frill Jumper and Tea Party Coat are perfect for Australia’s upcoming cooler season to keep out those winter chills. Delightful Darling’s Jasmine Scented Collar is also a great addition to any bleak blouse, while the Jasmine Scented Cuffs are a genius idea and like nothing we have ever seen before!
