Your bedroom is a place to rest, relax and have some time to yourself. A bedroom should be cosy yet functional while still highlighting your own unique sense of style.  Creating the perfect bedroom space doesn’t have to be stressful or burn a whole in your wallet. There are dozens of cheap and easy tricks and lifehacks to help you create the bedroom of your dreams. Here are a few ideas to get your dream bedroom started

De-Clutter

Before you start transforming your bedroom into that warm and inviting luxury space, there will more than likely be some clutter that you will want to either get rid of or store. One option is wardrobe systems. These come in all shapes and sizes and will allow you to make the best use of the space you have.

Pillows

One cost effective and easy way to cozy up your bedroom is with pillows, lots of pillows, in as many shapes, patterns and colours you can find!  Placing a few different pillows on your bed or on that tired and boring chair in the corner will add a comforting ambiance to your bedroom space.

Gadget Storage

Today, every single one of us has at least one electronic gadget. Most of us charge our gadgets at night when we are asleep, on the nightstand, next to the glass of water that your cat can't wait to knock over on your tablet or smartphone.

One way to safely charge your cell phone or tablet while still keeping it close-by is by charging it in the bedside cabinet as opposed to on it, by running a power cord through the back into one of the drawers. Most nightstands have a small gap in the back you can use, if not you can simply drill a hole large enough to fit the cord in.

DIY wall art

Do you have large blank spots on your wall that need filling up? You could go buy some framed prints or even a large piece to fill up the empty walls, but that can get really expensive very quickly. Instead, you can pull that quilt out that you never use and hang it up.

Or you can take all those photos that have been collecting dust in your desk drawer or the shoe box on your closet shelf and make a large collage. Another clever idea is to arrange 12 framed prints in a circle surrounding oversized clock hands to create your own personalised jumbo wall clock.

Lighting

The lighting and lighting fixtures can drastically change the entire dynamic of the room; choose lighting with dimmers so you can change the mood with a minor turn of a switch.  Adjustable lamps that can be affixed to the wall will not only look great, but give you space as well.

Not a lamp person? No problem - dig out the Christmas lights! Hang them over your bed or make a border of light around your bedside table or dresser. If you are really feeling creative, you can form your own unique design or pattern with them on your walls.

Your closet doesn’t have to be just for clothes

If you have a large closet in your room with extra space, you can transform it into a vanity or office space. Leave the closet door open or remove it all together to make your room appear larger than what it is. Place a large mirror behind the desk or vanity to offer an additional enlarging illusion.

Floating Nightstands

Not enough room on your bedroom floor for a nightstand? Use the ceiling! (yes, you read that right!) Floating Nightstands have been gaining a lot of popularity lately, and not only will they save you floor space, they also look amazing!

Using a couple of the above suggestions can transform your bedroom into a space you’ll really enjoy.
