Photoshoot + Interview: 'Sounds Like Pastel' by Celeste Russo

Winter down under always makes us a little bit dramatic – what better excuse to pull out vintage furs and faux-furs – or even a cape? Abandoning her job in economics to pursue her love of photography, Celeste’s work is a celebration of all things feminine.
Sipping tea and sporting a headband and lace, Celeste’s beautiful model Felicitas reminds us a little of Alice out of Wonderland!
Q: When did your love of photography first blossom?
A: It was about two years ago. I was with my family in Miami enjoying summer holidays when I first saw a professional DSLR camera. I bought one that came with two lenses, and when I came back to Argentina, I started some initial level courses. The truth is that I studied economics in college, so....I knew a lot about numbers but I did not even know how to use a DSLR camera in manual mode. I fell in love instantly with photography after my first classes and I realized that I loved taking photos of people. A few months later, I quit my job as an economist and I started studying fashion photography.
Q: What inspires your creativity the most?
A: I think inspiration is everywhere, but I really love listening to music and exploring the feelings it awakens in me.
Q: We love this pastel series! Please tell us about the experience you had planning and capturing these beautiful images?
A: I just loved capturing the images! In fact, I had the idea in my mind for two months, but I could not find a model that suited the photo series. Then I found Felicitas through Facebook...and I knew she was the one. She is not only a gorgeous model, but also a funny, beautiful and professional person. Felicitas became a friend of my team in less than 10 minutes and that was incredible because the results were better than expected.
Q: What does an average day in the life of Celeste look like?
A: Mmm...I wake up late, around 10.30 am, and take a shower. Then, I have breakfast at my desk and start working...if I have to retouch, I retouch; but if not, I look for ideas for the next photoshoot listening to some music :)
Q: Lastly, what do you hope to achieve with your photography in the not-too-distant future; do you have any exciting, upcoming plans that you would like to share with us?
A: Yes! I´m planning a color block shooting, but I still don´t have a complete idea...I want to do something different, and because of that I'm working on it.
