Halloween Special: 'Flowers for Eyes' by Miriam Marlene Waldner ft. Samantha Pleet Fall 16
You don’t have to be roaming the streets dressed like Carrie or the Bride of Frankenstein to get into the spooky spirit this year – we love Samantha Pleet’s Fall 16 collection, which features subtle Halloween motifs.
Its accompanying photoshoot, with a farmyard setting and autumn colour palette - and some very well-behaved geese - feels like a callback to the paintings of the Dutch Golden Age or American Gothic.
Famous for her twists on classic styles and distinctive prints, as well as garments that tell a story, New York designer Samantha Pleet’s customers include Lena Dunham and Maggie Gyllenhaal - and we can see why.
In this collection, Samantha finds the fun in all that’s Halloween and makes it her own. Highlights include the Bite Me Bodysuit, the pristine white Charmed Dress, the Passion candlestick dress and the delicate embroidery of the Secret Garden jumpsuit.
With peasant tops and flared skirts that tip their hat to the 70s, these are feature pieces that can easily become wardrobe staples, suitable to spook up the club, office or your brunch date.
This shoot’s just a small fraction of the Fall collection - for more, browse her lookbooks online or follow Samantha Pleet on Facebook. You can also check out more of Miriam's stunning photography here.
