FASHFEST 2017 Dates Announced (Mark it in your Calendars!)
For the past two years, Whim has had the pleasure of attending Canberra's most prestigious fashion event - FASHFEST.
Today we're excited to announce that FASHFEST won't just be back again in 2017 (bigger and better than ever before), but that you can now mark it in your calendars, because the event will be held at the National Convention Centre Canberra from 28 to 30 September.
That gives you plenty of time to set aside the three days, get your way to Canberra, and enjoy the incredible array of fashion designs which will be making their way down the catwalk this year.
FASHFEST has always been more than a catwalk show, however, as it pushes out the work of many creatives, including film, music, art, photography, makeup, hair and more. The event will carry on its tradition of breaking barriers with music and the 2017 line-up of live DJs and musicians will again be curated by FASHFEST’s Director of Music. Plus, original films will again be produced for each show.
To add even more exciting news to the major fashion event, FASHFEST CEO Clint Hutchinson is leaving his full-time job as Managing Director of Zoo Group to dedicate even more time and energy to the event.
He explains: "FASHFEST has grown rapidly over the past five years and now demands more attention to refine and expand it," says Clint. "Stepping down from my full-time role will help Andrea and I take FASHFEST 2017 to the next level. We’ll also roll out exciting pop-ups and activations throughout the city. FASHFEST is here to stay."
True to its beginnings, FASHFEST will continue to showcase the talent of local and independent designers. Organisers are also already on the hunt for new labels from interstate and overseas.
We're so excited to bring you more FASHFEST news in the coming months, along with coverage of the incredible shows from the 28th - 30th of September. Stay tuned!
In the meantime, please keep up-to-date with the event by following FASHFEST on Facebook, Instagram (@fashfest), or via their website. You can also see our past coverage of the event (along with exclusive designer interviews) here. Enjoy!
