4 Quick + Easy Ways to Improve Your Creativity Today
Have you ever been told to be a little more creative or to ‘think outside of the box?’
It can be a really tricky trying to be more creative when you think that you are the least creative person ever. But the truth is we are all creative. We all have different strengths, but we can all use creativity as an outlet. It is just knowing how to hone the skills that you have so that you can make the best of it. So if you want to be more creative but don’t know where to start, here are a few ideas for you.
Take a Break
It can be hard to clear your mind to do crafts or play an instrument if you are rushing around all the time. So it is important to take a break or time out, as much as you can. Some creative time is perfect for unwinding and relaxing, so if you are feeling a little stressed out, then don’t think that you can’t get started on things. To start with you might have to start scheduling in the time in your calendar. Then it will become more of a habit, and you’ll naturally find the time to do it.
Push Your Limits
In order to really hone your skills and creativity, it is a good idea to push your boundaries a little. If you can try something new, then you never know what you might get out of it. You could also just step out of your comfort zone with things that you already do. If you like to draw and sketch in your spare time, then how about entering in some online art competitions? It isn’t about the winning a prize necessarily, but pushing your boundaries and trying something different.
Use Your Time Wisely
We all could do with some more hours in the day from time to time. But you can use the hours that you have more wisely. For example, if you commute to work, how could you use that time to your advantage? If you are on a train, you could use that time to read, research into your favorite topic, to sketch or to draw. If you drive on your commute, it could be the perfect time to get some inspiration and insight. Forget about the work day that you have ahead, or that you’ve just experienced. Then you can get your creative juices flowing.
Switch Off Your Tech
If you are constantly checking your phone, the laptop, and your social media apps, then it won’t help you to improve your creativity at all. In fact, it will do the complete opposite; it is not conducive to creativity. It will keep your mind really active and engaged when watching videos people have posted, for instance. Instead, switching off your technology and internet from time to time will allow you to have the creative release that you so crave. You could try some adult coloring in or doodling instead.
