Photoshoot: 'Fleur Violette' by Rafael Mesa
We’re loving 'Fleur Violette' - a sweet and simple garden shoot by Venezuela-based Whim regular Rafael Mesa.
The floral tea dress seems to be a standard in any vintage-loving girl’s wardrobe – and the one featured here is exquisite! We love the relaxed, intimate feel of this shoot and the soft natural lights and shadows, proving even the simplest of garden locations can be the perfect backdrop.
Rafael describes his work as “retro avant-garde”. His portfolio is an exploration of natural light and natural beauty, having shot scores of confident, radiant women using a mixture of digital and film photography.
His portraits, though not always vintage-styled, bring to mind iconic photographs of great women like Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, drawing on their strong public personas while retaining intimacy and insight.
