Q: With a wedding dress being one of the most intensely personal purchases many women will make, why do you think so many brides are going vintage in 2017?
A: We think it has to do with uniqueness. With social media having a huge impact on fashion and trends, vintage is a nice way to stand out. And vintage is also the perfect solution for the eco-friendly bride. Sustainable fashion is becoming a huge movement and we are happy we can provide an alternative for the eco-conscious bride.
Q: Without revealing too many of your secrets - what's the process of finding "new" dresses for the shop?
A: OK huge secret reveal…….. not really hahaha, we pick our dresses based on what we like. We have very different fashion taste (in everyday life), but when we find a wedding dress we both love we usually buy it.
Q: If you had to pick - what's your favourite era in bridal wear?
A: 70’s all the way. We love feminine bohemian dresses.
Q: What are some other touches brides can add for a complete vintage look?
A: To complete a vintage look we would say hair, pick something based on the era of your dress. BUT we love modernising vintage. We love seeing brides style their vintage gowns with colourful shoes, or hair thats a little different. Its nice to see people make their look truly unique.
Q: What are some tips you'd give for brides looking for a vintage piece?
A: Don’t dismiss a dress if it doesn’t fit. We have had a few brides who modify the dress to fit them. It's amazing what a good seamstress can do. We had a bride who turned their wedding dress into an open back gown and it looked lovely.
AND
Don’t wait too long to buy a vintage dress if you love it! We get asked a lot about sold dresses. Once they are gone, they are gone!
We hope you loved these images as much as we do and encourage you to check out more from Maggie May Bridal by visiting the label's website or following along on Facebook and Instagram. Enjoy!
