'Age of Innocence': A New Collection + Lookbook by Vivienne Mok

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder…

We’re so happy to announce that longtime Whim favourite Vivienne Mok’s online shop is live again, featuring her new collection / lookbook 'Age of Innocence' – out December 1.

We were so excited to be sent a preview of the collection before its release date – it’s a love letter to white lace and antiques, and days when you just want to fill the house with white roses.

We love collections that convey a story or a character, and 'Age of Innocence' truly embodies the “feminine, romantic and playful” essence that Vivienne describes her work to be – we can see these lace, bows and ruffles on the heroine of a ghost story in an instant.

For a delicate, all-white collection, 'Age of Innocence' is delightfully varied and versatile. Beautifully detailed headpieces like a lace veil and a delicate white cap are obvious inspirations for the ultimate vintage wedding, while a fitted crop and a lace-edged leotard put a romantic twist on picnic or festival-wear.

Q: For those of our readers who aren't familiar with your shop, please tell them a little about it?

A: Hello my name is Vivienne Mok and I am photographer (www.instagram.com/vivienne.mok/). But before I got into photography, I was in the fashion design field. My e-shop project brings me back to my roots: clothing. I have been thinking about doing a proper e-shop for a while.

Throughout the years, since I have started photography, I have been collecting vintage garments or making/customizing clothes to style my photoshoots.

Today I am making available to all a part of my collection through my Clothing and Accessories shop. The shop offers a mix of mainly vintage garments as well as some self-made accessories and clothing. Everything is quite dreamy, feminine and romantic.

Q: We adore your latest lookbook and collection, 'Age of Innocence'! What was the inspiration behind this beautiful addition?

A: Thank you! I like to make a new photoshoot, a sort of "lookbook" each time I introduce new items and present them as a little 'collection'. I always work around an idea, a theme for each collection.

For 'Age of Innocence' (viviennemok.tictail.com/products/collection/age-of-innocence), I had a couple true Victorian and Edwardian items which I really love (a type of garment you can often find in my photographic works) and so it went from there. Everything in this set is mainly white, very pure, some items are from that era, others are more modern, but with a Victorian revival feel. There is also a bit of a bridal feel to it, I can see some of these garments as wedding dresses.

Q: We know it can be hard to pick favourites, but do you have a favourite piece or set of pieces from the collection?

A: My very two favorite items we sold just yesterday! But here are some of my other favorite pieces:

Q: What do you hope to achieve with your gorgeous shop and photography in the new year? Do you have any exciting, upcoming plans that you would like to share with us?

A: This year has been quite hectic, I moved and had constantly to go from one place to another, therefore I haven't been able to keep the shop open for quite some time as I couldn't stock the clothes where I was, but I have finally found a solution to that. So for this coming new year, I definitely hope to have the shop open throughout the year (there may be a couple breaks here and there due to traveling, work etc).

I am currently preparing the next two collections which will go online next year. This e-shop is only a project on the side for now, it would be lovely if it could grow and become something more serious. But I am patient ;)

As for my photography, there will be many exciting projects to come.
