Spring Portraits: A Photoshoot + Interview with Connie Marina Photography
Q: Hi Connie! We've had the honour of sharing your work here on Whim over the previous years. How do you think your work has changed during this time?
A: I've loved working with Whim throughout the years. I started off as a fashion photographer, and now focus on large events and wedding photography. My style is still editorial focused, but now is more documentary styled since I'm capturing people's special day!
Q: During this difficult time in the world, how has the global pandemic affected your day-to-day work as a photographer?
A: Wedding season is often very high pressure and hectic, so I was relieved to get a couple months off. Since I'm based in Chicago, things are opening up now and things are getting back to normal! Having a break made me come back even more recharged and fresh with new ideas.
Q: What does an average day in your life look like? How do you like to structure your day?
A: My days are decently structured- I wake up, work out, answer all emails/ have my client meetings, spend time with friends, and I thrive at night with editing. I like to keep my days flexible though, and that's one of the perks of being self employed!
Q: What do you hope to achieve with your work in 2020? Do you have any exciting plans for the future that you'd like to share with us?
A: I miss fashion photography/ personal portraits, and hope I can take more time to focus on what made me fall in love with photography in the first place. I hope I can do more test shoots, which allow my team and I to have complete control of the shoots and execute all the creative ideas we've been cooking up.
